Personal narrative!
I'm still in Loveland!
Have been married to Bob McDonnell since March
1, 1968. We lived in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa for 15 months while Bob finished some
college classes, and then returned to Loveland.
We have been blessed with a son, Chad,
32, who is a stockbroker at Charles Schwab in Denver
and his lovely wife, Jennifer. Although no grandchildren are in the
picture currently, we do have a granddog, Maxine (85 pound rottweiller), who
does visit us frequently. My siblings also live in Loveland.
Although our dad passed away in 1985, our mother is still living in Loveland.
Bob teaches business classes at College America
in Fort Collins. Although I
took an early retirement from Hewlett-Packard after 24 years in 2002, I
returned to a different opportunity four months later. Currently, I'm
working for Manpower at Hewlett-Packard on a part-time, temporary basis.
A Loveland memory from 1950/60 era!
I remember the wonderful teachers we had: Mrs. Whitehouse and her
love for Shakespeare; Mrs. Cuney and Ms. Scott and their insistence in the
importance of the English language. (Doubt if they would be too happy
today, seeing how the unacceptable is being deemed acceptable language use
today.) I loved to go to the City Dairy to get a lemon slush and basket
of potato chips before school. I remember cruising Loveland
south through Longmont and back to
north Fort Collins when we should
have been doing our bookkeeping project. Now, today, kids can't do the cruising
too obviously because some took inappropriate liberties in the community.
Remember the lingo developed by our class: Yang-gang, ya ain't got no, no
dirt. Don't remember who came up with the phrases or that some of them
really meant anything, but they were always funnier when Terry Wells said
them.
